Resource Therapy - An Empowering Parts Work Approach

ree

Resource Therapy is an advanced parts work model based on the idea that our personality is made up of different “Resources” or parts of ourselves. Some of these Resources carry our strengths such as kindness, nurture, competence and resilience. Others may hold pain, rejection or fear, which can show up in daily life as unwanted emotions, reactions or behaviours.

Rather than seeing these parts as problems to be fixed, Resource Therapy offers a framework to

understand them with compassion and curiosity. By working directly with the part that is “present” in the moment, therapy can be deeply affirming and effective. Clients often discover new ways to connect with their strengths, reduce distress and move towards lasting change.

Why Resource Therapy?

Parts work is increasingly recognised as a powerful approach for supporting trauma recovery and mental health, either as a stand-alone method or in combination with other modalities such as EMDR. Resource Therapy provides practical techniques that are both gentle and empowering, making it a valuable tool for therapists and those in other helping professions. It is useful in almost any client presentation including attachment trauma, cPTSD, chronic pain, depression, anxiety, performance, work and EAP, stress management, parenting challenges, imposter syndrome, and decision making.

Foundation Training

In the Resource Therapy Foundation Course, you will be introduced to the history and theory of personality that underpin this model. The training is highly experiential, with live practicum components to help you build confidence in applying new skills straight away in both professional practice and personal life.

This course is suitable for therapists, counsellors, coaches and anyone in a helping role who wants to expand their toolkit with an evidence-informed and compassionate approach.

The Foundation Course also forms the first two days of the full Clinical Resource Therapy Qualification. For those wanting to continue, the 10-day Clinical Course offers a deeper dive into advanced applications of the model.
